Enlarges the Academic Horizon of the visually impaired students by providing vision through innovative techniques.
It was in the year 1992, that a small group of women from Adyar, under the leadership of Mrs. Padma Narasimhan decided to spend their leisure time in the service of the needy and handicapped. Thus was born the Adyar Exnora Women's Guild.
From 1992- 1998 the guild took up number of projects to help the under privileged from different sections of the society, like the economically backward girls and women. Organisations like the Spastic Society of Tamil Nadu at Chennai and 'SEED' at Sriperambathur were also given financial assistance for their needs.Poor children and orphans were provided financial assistance for Education and Healthcare.
In 1999, it was decided that the guild should focus on one project, where there would be direct involvement of all volunteers so a trust named Darshini was founded for the welfare and rehabilitation of the visually challenged college students of Chennai. The reading centre run by Darshini, which had just 8 students on roll in the beginning, has helped hundreds of students till date and has gained the good will and confidence of the visually challenged community.
